Garden

The grounds at SkyHigh Mount Dandenong have been extensively refurbished.  Whilst the original ramps and rockeries in front of the building have been retained, it is the rear of the site that has been dramatically reshaped.

Surrounded by sweeping lawns is The English Garden, which is set beneath the canopy of majestic Australian Blackwoods,  that provide dappled shade, and are a haven for the local bird life.  A pebbled creek runs through the garden, and a series of bridges allow visitors to pause and experience gently cascading water and reflective ponds.  The garden offers year round interest with a variety of flowering shrubs, perennials, deciduous trees, and a feast of foliage plants.  Repeat plantings in silver and burgundy add a sense of calm and harmony, whilst mass plantings of flaxes provide exciting highlights.

The Secret Garden offers a tranquil setting for wedding ceremonies, name giving or private functions.  A traditional lychgate opens onto a lawn, which is bounded by a two tiered hedge.

Moving further into the garden one discovers a beautiful gazebo that is situated at the far end.  A bank of roses, mass planted liriopes and azaleas with a backdrop of brush fencing completes the picture of this truly unique space.

National park walks

There are many fabulous walks in the Dandenong Ranges, SkyHigh directly links to a meandering forest loop of approx 800m, ideal for families, or a more demanding walk to visit the historic Kyeema monument, site of the 1938 plane crash.  (approx 4km return)
